PREFACE
The information contained herein is intended to accurately and fairly present past, present and future information as it pertains to Moxley Construction, Inc. It is intended that anyone interested
in conducting business in any fashion with Moxley Construction, Inc. be presented a fair and
truthful picture of the individuals involved, the professional competency, and the business ethics
and morals of the organization.
Moxley Construction, Inc. is a fifty year old company that has successfully and effectively
continued operations throughout a vast array of economic conditions. Operations have included
residential and commercial buildings. Moxley is a very respected name within the construction
industry with quality and responsible construction standards being the foundation that all decisions
are made.
Moxley Construction, Inc. is a Licensed General Contractor in Virginia and North Carolina, along
with Electrical and Plumbing licenses in Virginia. Prior to 1994, operations were limited to the
State of Virginia with only a few exceptions. Moxley has built churches, a post office, barns,
residential homes, and small apartment buildings throughout the life of the company. Moxley has
successfully completed over one thousand projects and has never defaulted on any or had a suit
filed against the entity. An excellent credit history has also been maintained throughout the years
with all vendors and subcontractors.
MISSION
It is the mission of Moxley Construction, Inc. to operate a profitable business as a general
contractor within the State of Virginia and North Carolina. Residential construction, though
primary, commercial construction including warehousing structures, office buildings, and churches
will also be pursued as opportunities arise. It is the determination of Moxley to use good sound
business practices in all endeavors. High quality standards will continue to be the foundation that
will maintain the well respected status that Moxley Construction, Inc. now holds within the
community.
HISTORY
Mr. Douglas Moxley founded Moxley Construction in 1940. Douglas operated as a sole
proprietor until 1964 when he formed a partnership with his son, David Moxley. The partnership
continued until 1982 when David became the sole proprietor. In 1992, Moxley Construction
formed a corporation with David Moxley serving as President.
In the beginning, Douglas concentrated his efforts within the Axton, Virginia area and built
residential houses and provided other carpentry services as needed within the community. At this
point in time, all aspects of the construction process were performed by Douglas (and later David)
including the foundation work, framing, plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, trim work, painting, brick
and block work, and all concrete work. Rather than use subcontractors, Douglas and David
performed all tasks associated with the construction projects. From these experiences, Douglas
and David emerged as genuine masters of the construction trade.
PERSONNEL PROFILE
David Moxley, President
David started working part-time with his father at a very early age. After graduating from high
school, David volunteered for the Army. After his discharge, he joined his father as a full-time
employee and soon became a partner in the business. In 1982, after his father semi-retired, David
became the sole proprietor of the business. David has gained a vast amount of skill and expertise
within the construction field and has a genuine knowledge of all facets of the construction
process. David is a Licensed Contractor in the State of Virginia and North Carolina.
David has done work for the Army Corps Engineers, Post Office Department, VA Hospital, and
private sector including dwellings costing range from $60,000 to $700,000. He served as sole
project manager and superintendent in building the Eden Post Office, a $1,300,000 project.
Barry Moxley
David's son, Barry, has worked for Moxley Construction, Inc. for most of his life. When he was
very young he went to work with his father daily and helped as needed and became familiar with
operations on a construction site at a very early age. After graduating from high school, he joined
the company as a full-time employee. Barry's main interest is landscaping, backhoe work, and
framing. In the past few years he has begun to expand and enter into a managerial role as a project
manager. During 1994, Barry was fully responsible for all projects within the State of Virginia.
Barry has eleven years full-time experience and four years part-time.
Dimas Esquivel
Dimas has worked for Moxley Construction, Inc. for fifteen years. He has helped in all phases of
the work but excels in carpentry work.
Gary Clifton
Gary has twenty-five years experience in plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. He holds contractor licenses for all three phases of work.
Moxley Construction, Inc. is qualified to perform any job.
